A 51-year-old Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu has been nominated by the queen mother of Asante Mampong to succeed Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, who died in April this year.
A traditional rite was on Monday performed at the Asante Mampong chief’s palace to formalise his nomination, pending Asantehene’s acceptance.
Leslie Nkansa Osei-Bonsu is a royal of Asante Mampong and brother of the current queen mother, Nana Agyakomaa Difie II.

Nkansa Osei-Bonsu was born on March 14, 1974, in Kumasi.
He lived his early life in Kumasi where he started his education at the City of Kumasi Preparatory School, where he took part in the common entrance examination.
He proceeded to the Premier College to pursue his ordinary level education.
He was the school prefect during his time.
He holds Bachelor of Science (Hons) Geometric Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
He also holds Master of Science Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (Distinction) from the University of Twente, Netherlands.
He is a senior software architect and geospatial systems strategist with over two decades of experience.
He is deeply rooted in the Botaase Royal Family of Asante Mampong.
