According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, 82 Ghanaians have been evacuated from the Republic of Sudan.
According to a statement from April 25, Ghanaian nationals in the unrest-stricken nation have been evacuated to safety in Gedaref, Sudan, where they will stay until Wednesday, April 26, when they will be moved to the Ethiopian border town of Metema for further repatriation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration declared earlier this week that it was prepared to evacuate Ghanaian individuals caught up in the crisis in Sudan.
The Sudanese Military Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have been engaged in a murderous confrontation that has claimed needless lives over the past week.
