The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) leader Percival Kofi Akpaloo’s brother has disclosed further information regarding the troubled politician’s arrest, claiming that the family was not informed of the circumstances surrounding his incarceration.
He told Okay FM that Mr. Akpaloo was taken from his residence to Accra by EOCO officers without providing any apparent explanation.
“They picked him up without telling us why. Up until now, we are only piecing things together from what has come out later,” he stated.
His remarks give the developing case, which has attracted national interest, a human touch.
Mr. Akpaloo was arrested on September 3, 2025, on suspicion of engaging in fraud, inflicting financial harm to the state, dissipating public funds, and money laundering, according to Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem Sai.
He was later given a GHC10 million bond with two sureties, but he is still being held by EOCO till the conditions of the bail are met.
