Ghana and Uganda are strengthening bilateral cooperation in the upstream petroleum sector as regulators from both countries engage in knowledge sharing on petroleum governance, oil and gas regulation, and industry operations.
The Petroleum Commission of Ghana hosted the Board of Directors of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) for a high-level peer-learning engagement focused on exchanging practical experiences and enhancing regulatory capacity in the petroleum industry.
The meeting provides an important platform for both institutions to share lessons from their respective oil and gas sectors, identify effective regulatory practices and explore ways to improve petroleum governance.
Opening the engagement, Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle, said the initiative would enable the two institutions to learn from each other’s experiences and strengthen their approaches to petroleum regulation.
She noted that collaboration and knowledge exchange are essential to improving petroleum sector governance, regulatory effectiveness and operational standards.
The Ghana-Uganda engagement is expected to contribute to stronger institutional capacity and promote effective management of the countries’ upstream oil and gas resources.
The partnership also highlights the growing importance of regional cooperation and peer learning in developing sustainable and well-regulated Africa’s petroleum industry.
