According to 3Sports sources, Mubarak Wakaso has been placed on standby while Salis Abdul Samed has been added to Ghana’s final World Cup roster.

For Lens, who are second in Ligue 1, Samed has started each of the team’s 14 games thus far this year.

The midfielder was originally selected for Ghana’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations team, but he later withdrew owing to an injury.

Otto Addo and the player are thought to have reconciled their disagreements after the midfielder ignored the Kirin Cup call-ups months ago.

As of right now, Wakaso is on the World Cup standby list. Otto Addo, according to 3Sports, is hesitant to include Wakaso because he already has reliable midfield options, although discussions are still underway until the official announcement.

Since joining Belgian club Eupen in September, the midfielder has played in seven league contests.

He played in both of Ghana’s matches against Chile and Japan while on the Kirin Cup squad.

If Wakaso, who played for Ghana in the 2014 World Cup, is selected for the final roster, he will be among the team’s more seasoned players at age 32.

On November 24, Ghana’s 2022 World Cup campaign will get underway against Portugal. The Black Stars’ second group encounter is on November 28 against South Korea, and then on December 2 they play Uruguay.

To make it to the semifinals is the Black Stars’ goal.
