The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has refuted rumors that Alan Kyerematen, a former candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, had discussions with the party about forming an alliance for the 2024 Presidential election.

According to media sources, Kyerematen was considering collaborating with Ivor Kobina Greenstreet of the CPP.

The former minister of trade and industry allegedly spoke with the PPP and CPP leadership during those conversations, according to reports.

The CPP Chairperson, Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma, claimed that the assertions were fresh to the party and that there had not been any such discussions with the leadership of the party.

She added that Kyerematen and Greenstreet should think about running as independents instead of joining up with the CPP.

The CPP is unaware of the claim, according to Nana Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma, the party’s chair.

“I am the CPP’s Chair and leader, and I am not aware that Alan and the CPP have met. Perhaps Alan is considering such a meeting right now. None of the party’s Central Committee members are aware of the information published by Ghanaians Times.

Nothing of the such has been presented to me for debate by party leadership, and I am the Chair of the Central Committee of the party.

Regarding the rumored meeting between Alan and Ivor Greenstreet, I believe they may be considering becoming independents rather than the CPP’s flagbearer and running partner. due to the fact that Greenstreet is not the party’s leader.

Although he, Greenstreet, served as the party’s flag bearer twice, the year 2024 will be very different. The CPP is set to choose its flagbearer, and we are now organizing and rebranding the party to make it more competitive.

In August 2021, Kyerematen withdrew from the NPP presidential election. He mentioned intimidation and an unequal playing ground as his reasons.
