Supporters of Alan attend the funeral of the minister in Kumasi

On November 19, 2022, at the funeral service for Cecelia Abena Dapaah’s late mother, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) grassroots followers in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti region, were fiercely divided over Alan Kyerematen and Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Vice President and Minister of Trade and Industry of Ghana attended the aforementioned burial, among other dignitaries.

The NPP stalwarts’ supporters cheered for their favorite candidate with frequent shouting and singing in an effort to demonstrate their superior popularity.

The Bawumia supporters were outnumbered and outnumbered by the Alan Kyerematen followers.

Politicking at funerals has recently evolved into a form of political theatrics, especially during internal political party battles.

It will be noted that at the funeral for the late mother of Asenso Boakye, Member of Parliament for the Bantama constituency, Alan Kyerematen’s supporters outnumbered and physically dominated their Bawumia camp rivals.

During the funerals for the late Sir John and Dr. Amoako Tuffour, similar instances were reported.

After successfully holding the internal elections in 2022, the NPP is preparing to hold its parliamentary and presidential primaries.
