Inaki Williams, a former player for Spain, wants to repay Ghana for giving him the chance to represent his country at the World Cup.
Williams, a Bilbao native, announced in June that he would represent Ghana and make his World Cup debut in Qatar this year.
The Athletic Bilbao player has received three caps for the Black Stars since changing his nationality, and more appearances are anticipated in upcoming matches.
The attacker said he will exert all effort to provide Ghana the chance to compete in the largest soccer world championship in Asia.
Williams declared, “I’m going to attempt to embrace the occasion, my roots, and try to return to Ghana the opportunity that it has given me.”
On Thursday against Portugal in Ghana’s Group H opening, the 28-year-old is anticipated to get the start.
The Black Stars, who didn’t participate in the world championship in Russia 2018, were placed in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
Ghana’s season will begin with a matchup against the former European champions Portugal, followed by matches against South Korea and Uruguay.
