The National Democratic Congress’s 24-hour economy proposal calls for the formation of joint military-police anti-robbery squads around the nation to ensure protection for economic activities.

This would be implemented under a new Mahama administration.

During his “Building the Ghana We Want Tour,” former President John Mahama made this announcement in Gambaga, North East Region.

“All six new regions are going to have military barracks so that the Ghana Army will be present in all the regions”, Mr. Mahama promised, adding: “In addition, we are going to form joint military and police anti-armed robbery squads and one of those squads will be here in the North East to fight armed robbery because we want you to have peace and security to be able to go about your duties and we know that our 24-hour economy policy cannot work unless there is security and safety for everybody,”. he assured.

Additionally, should he win the elections on December 7, 2024, he pledged to construct military bases in each of the six new areas that President Nana Akufo-Addo formed.

According to Mr. Mahama, maintaining security is critical to the operation of his proposed 24-hour economy.
