Mr. Alan Kyerematen, the Movement for Change’s founder and leader, has declared that if he is elected president, there won’t be any mining in forest reserves or bodies of water.

Yesterday, Monday, April 15, 2024, the former commerce minister made the remarks while visiting marketplaces in the Western Region.

According to Mr. Kyerematen, his government would implement a business model that simplifies and gives residents the ability to form corporations that will enable them to actively engage in the mining industry. In order to allow small-scale miners to purchase and operate sophisticated equipment and engage in ethical mining, he also emphasized the importance of having access to financing.

Hon. Kyerematen claims that the Movement was started because, despite the NPP and NDC having alternated power every eight years for more than 30 years, Ghana has remained stagnant and neither party has been able to change the state of the nation or the lives of its citizens.

“The time has come for the people of Ghana to change their voting hands. They need to change for a new person to come. I will build a modern market for you when I become the President. When it rains, you don’t work. When the sun shines too much, you can’t work. Ghana cannot move forward without you the traders”. he stated.

The demands of Ghanaian traders are highly important to Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, who stated that whenever traders’ families don’t make sales in the market, they always go hungry.

He so promised to construct a contemporary market for the traders if they assisted him in winning the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

Mr. Kyerematen further reassured the traders that Traders Bank would be set up to assist them with loans to enhance their trading activities. He also urged the traders to vote for him in the general elections scheduled for December by casting a large number of ballots.

On the other hand, he promised to take action on the import VAT taxes by making sure that there would be no duties or taxes after his first two years in office and that all port taxes would be reduced before the two years were over.

“When we do this, transport fares will come down. If inflation is reduced, the cost of food items will come down. That will ‘depend on the low cost of transport fares”. he added.

He urged lawmakers to put Ghana first rather than only looking out for the wellbeing of their constituents.

Therefore, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen advised the traders to cast their votes for a presidential candidate who is capable of carrying out the job, stressing that he has come to represent Ghanaians’ interests more than party affiliations.

“Ghana will move forward when Alan becomes the President of Ghana” he concluded.
