What LGBTQ+ is and more….

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning and Others are collectively referred to as LGBTQ+.

Additional identities within the community, such as asexual, intersex, and non-binary people, are represented by the “+” at the end of the acronym.

Gay describes males who are drawn to other men, whereas lesbian describes women who are drawn to other women. Bisexual people are drawn to both men and women, but transgender people identify as a gender other than the one they were born with.

Anyone who does not identify as heterosexual or cisgender is referred to as queer (identifying with the gender they were assigned at birth).

While asexual people do not feel sexual desire, intersex people are born with physical sex traits that do not correspond to traditional gender roles for either men or women. Non-binary people can identify as both, neither, or a combination of genders; they do not only identify as male or female.

It’s crucial to acknowledge, respect, and support the LGBTQ+ community’s multiplicity of identities as well as their right to an authentic life free from prejudice.
