The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) would like to notify everyone, especially those involved in Ghana’s gold trading industry, that we will be starting to license service providers as of today, Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

A Ghanaian who is at least eighteen years old or who owns a fully owned Ghanaian business may apply for a license from the GoldBod in person at the license office at our main office in Accra or online at goldbod.gov.gh.

The following license types are available for application with immediate effect:

• Aggregator license

• Self-financing Aggregator license

• Buyer license (tier 2)

• Buyer license (Tier 1)

With effect from July 2025, additional permits, including those for refining, smelting, fabrication, storage, transportation, and importation, among others, may be requested.

Our website, goldbod.gov.gh, provides all pertinent information regarding the GoldBod’s mission, regulations, and activities.

Through our website, a person can message the GoldBod or ask questions.

Before applying for a license, a candidate must thoroughly read, comprehend, and agree to the terms and conditions of the license.

With effect from April 30, 2025, the GoldBod would like to restate its previous order for all foreigners to leave the local gold trading market.

According to the Ghana GoldBod Act, 2025 (ACT 1140), breaching this order will be illegal.

Nonetheless, a foreigner may apply to the GoldBod to remove gold from it.
