Thomas Partey, a former midfielder for Arsenal, was given conditional bail after showing up at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning to answer to many rape and sexual assault accusations.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian international was charged with five charges of rape and one count of sexual assault. He left Arsenal after his contract expired in June.

The charges, according to the Crown Prosecution Service, concern three women and are said to have happened between 2021 and 2022 when Partey was still a member of the North London club.

Two counts of rape against one lady, three counts against another, and one count of sexual assault against a third are among the charges against him.

Partey showed up in court wearing a black zip-neck sweatshirt, standing silently in the dock with his hands behind his back, according to a report by the Mirror.co.uk.

His bail requirements include not being able to get in touch with any of the alleged victims and having to report to the authorities any overseas trip or permanent address changes.

According to the court, Partey is reportedly close to finalizing a contract with Villarreal of Spain. “I understand he’s no longer employed in this country and is playing in Spain now,” Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring said during proceedings.

Jenny Wiltshire, Partey’s attorney, reaffirmed her client’s stance, saying that he “denies all the charges against him” and is eager to “finally clear his name.”

On September 2, the case will resume at the Old Bailey.
