A terrible car accident at Ofoase Ayirebi claimed the lives of two police officers assigned to the Ghana Police Service Ofoase Divisional Command in the Eastern Region’s Akyemansa District.

According to reports, Lance Corporal Isaac Anti and Constable Allonyor Thomas, the slain cops, were killed when their motorcycle collided with a stationary tricycle known as ‘aboboyaa’.

Sources claim that the officers were riding from Ofoase to Ayirebi to buy food when the accident happened, and they were not on duty at the time.

Due to the impact’s intensity, Lance Corporal Anti passed away immediately at the spot.

Constable Thomas, his colleague, was taken to the Brenase Health Centre for medical assistance after suffering severe injuries and bleeding profusely, but he was declared dead soon after.

According to Citi News Sources, the tricycle’s owner reportedly ran away from the site after learning that the casualties were police officers because he was afraid of being attacked by locals.

Since then, the authorities have started investigating into the accident’s circumstances.

The policemen’ bodies have been placed in the mortuary for autopsy and preservation in the interim.
