Nafisa Adama, a 32-year-old enrolled nurse working at the Kusali CHPS Compound, died last Tuesday in a motorbike accident while delivering medical supplies from Gwollu to Kusali in the Sissala West District.
After obtaining medications and other medical supplies from the district seat, Madam Nafisa was reportedly making her way back to her community, which is roughly 15 km from Gwollu.
According to Rauf Bawa Basugu, the Sissala West District Health Information Officer, the incident happened on Tuesday, May 12, at around 4 p.m., while she was returning to Kusali on a motorbike.
He said that midway through her trip, she experienced severe gusts and a lot of rain, which caused her to collide head-on with a motor tricycle coming from the other direction.

According to him, the tricycle rider reportedly lost control while attempting to navigate the worsening weather conditions and crashed into Madam Nafisa, who was carrying containers of drugs meant for the community.
She was taken for emergency care after suffering serious injuries, but an hour later she was declared dead.
According to Mr. Basugu, the deceased nurse was a mother of two who had only recently tied the knot.
“We at the Ghana Health Service administration feel deeply saddened by her death. If not for the medical logistics she came to transport from Gwollu, she probably would not have died,” Mr Basugu reiterated.
Madam Nafisa Adama was assigned to Gwollu in 2023 before being relocated to Kusali, where she worked as the community’s sole healthcare provider until her death.
