The charges against Bono Regional NPP Chairman Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC), who was recently arrested and detained, have been detailed in court records.

According to sections of the Criminal Code, 1960 (Act 29), the charge sheet specifies two counts: dissemination of false news and offensive behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace.

The first count, according to the charge of offence, is related to remarks he reportedly made in Accra in April 2026 in which he is accused of using derogatory language toward a judge.

The statement, “You are not a judge but rather a politician and you have covered your hair with a sack and claim you are a judge,” is quoted in the paper as behaviour that could upset public order.

He is accused in the second count of disseminating false information via a video that became viral on social media at the same time.

He knew or should have known the material was incorrect, according to the prosecution, and the substance was likely to incite fear and terror.
