Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye, is the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and according to the Ghana Police Service, he has been arrested for insulting behavior that could cause a breach of public peace.
The police confirmed in a statement released on Monday, September 8, that Abronye was arrested earlier that day and is being held at this time.
In the upcoming days, his arraignment in court is anticipated.
Although the statement did not specify the precise actions that resulted in his arrest, it was made at a time when the vocal politician has garnered a lot of public attention.
He recently submitted asylum applications, claiming political persecution and threats to his life, in eight different countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany, and Côte d’Ivoire.
A search of former NPP Youth Organiser Moses Abor’s home was conducted on Sunday in connection with police investigations into Abronye, but he was not located.
