The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has launched applications for 200 commission-based revenue collectors as part of efforts to boost revenue mobilisation and increase the Assembly’s ability to fund key city services.
The recruiting was part of a larger institutional effort to increase accountability in local revenue collection while also extending the human resource base needed to improve compliance throughout the metropolis.
Mr. Gilbert Nii Ankrah, Head of Public Affairs at the AMA, said that candidates would be required to meet a bonding condition including two guarantors, with one guarantor being a salaried worker and the second being a well-known opinion leader.
The PRO states that the guarantor requirement was designed to guarantee credibility and traceability and encourage responsible behaviour among collectors who would be hired on a commission basis.
The PRO stated, “The Assembly is committed to strengthening revenue mobilisation in a transparent and accountable manner, and that is why applicants must be bonded with two guarantors, one a salaried worker and another a respected opinion leader.”
He emphasised that the AMA 24-hour economy office is the sole location designated for the application procedure and that interested individuals must report there to complete the formal application forms.
“The public is advised to visit the AMA 24-hour economy office to complete the application forms. Applicants should also ensure they satisfy the guarantor requirement before submitting their forms,” he continued.
The recruitment was in accordance with the mayor of Accra’s 2026 vision of creating a cleaner, safer, and more efficient city, supported by better service delivery and stronger local governance institutions, Mr Ankrah said, using the occasion to outline the mayor’s overarching goals for the year.
According to him, the mayor’s 2026 strategy prioritised improving sanitation, maintaining public order and disciplined city administration, and raising sufficient local revenue to provide vital metropolitan services.
“The Mayor’s vision for 2026 is a city that works for cleaner communities, improved sanitation outcomes, better public service delivery, and stronger compliance with city regulations. Improving local revenue performance is part of the foundation for that vision,” the PRO said.
He emphasised that the Assembly would provide additional updates on the recruitment process through official announcements, advised potential applicants to use only official AMA channels for information, and warned the public to be on the lookout for false information.
