Otto Addo, the head coach of the Black Stars, was fired by the Ghana Football Association with immediate effect after a string of poor performances.

The dismissal followed Monday’s 2-1 defeat to Germany in Stuttgart. Ghana has lost four straight friendly and defeated 5-1 in Austria last Friday.

Otto Addo’s dedication and commitment to Ghanaian football were acknowledged by the GFA in a brief statement.

“The Association wishes to thank Otto Addo sincerely for his contribution to the team and wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours,” the statement said.

After Borussia Dortmund decided to let him go from his position in talent development at the end of the season in March 2024, Addo began his second tenure as the team’s coach.

For the majority of 2022, Addo served as Ghana’s temporary coach. This included the World Cup in Qatar, where Ghana defeated South Korea but was still eliminated in the group stage.

Ghana is in Group L with Croatia, England, and Panama after making it to the World Cup five times.

On June 17, it will play its debut game in Toronto versus Panama.
