Denise Ama Saah Fosuh, the daughter of late Ghanaian highlife music legend Daddy Lumba, has opened up about the challenges of remaining silent in the face of unverified stories surrounding her family following her father’s death.
In a TikTok video shared on Monday, October 6, 2026, Denise reflected on her late father’s approach to public controversies, revealing that Daddy Lumba believed not every issue required an immediate public response.
According to her, the highlife icon trusted that the truth would eventually become clear without him having to respond to every allegation or public discussion.
“My father didn’t believe that everything required a public response. He believed that eventually people would see things for themselves,” she said.
However, Denise explained that the year following Daddy Lumba’s death has made the situation more complicated. She said she has witnessed people make claims about her family without verification, with some of the narratives allegedly receiving support from individuals who were close to the circumstances being discussed.
She noted that her father’s absence has created a gap because he is no longer available to personally clarify issues or respond to stories concerning his life and family.
“The person who could have clarified so much is no longer here to speak for himself. So inevitably some of those gaps have been filled with other people’s version of the truth,” Denise stated.
The late Daddy Lumba remains one of Ghana’s most influential highlife musicians, with his music and personal life continuing to attract significant public interest even after his passing.
Denise admitted that there have been occasions when she considered correcting what she believed were inaccurate narratives but deliberately chose to remain silent. However, she is now questioning whether maintaining silence is the best way to protect her family’s dignity and legacy.
She raised concerns about how quickly misinformation can spread on social media, especially when people share a version of events before the individuals involved have an opportunity to respond.
“A full story can reach thousands of people before the person being discussed has even had an opportunity to respond,” she added.
Her comments have reignited discussions about Daddy Lumba’s legacy, family controversies, social media misinformation and the responsibility of the public to verify information before sharing or accepting claims as fact.
As interest in the life and legacy of the Ghanaian highlife legend continues, Denise’s remarks suggest that the question of when to speak and when to remain silent remains a difficult one for the family.
