The Dental and Medical Council has warned health professionals against leaving the country in search of better opportunities abroad.
This announcement was made during the training of newly licensed medical and dental professionals.
Member of the Dental and Medical Council, Dr. Constance Addo-Yobo, who served as the induction ceremony’s chairperson, acknowledged this phenomenon and pleaded with the newly inducted health professionals not to leave the country in search of better opportunities abroad at the expense of the nation’s health system.
Additionally, Dr. Addo-Yobo challenged physicians to make sacrifices within their own communities.
Do not, as some of your colleagues are already doing, be tempted to leave for “greener pastures” in the UK or other nations.
Stop the brain drain, please. The taxpayer has invested significantly in your education, Dr. Addo-Yobo pleaded.
