There have been network issues with the Electoral Commission Limited voter registration drive in a few districts nationwide.

Ayawaso West Wougon, Ayawaso Central, Korle Klotey, Ayawaso East, and Ayawaso North are reportedly the impacted Districts.

Since the procedure started at 7 in the morning, no one has been able to register.

Furthermore, the delays in registration go beyond these particular regions, suggesting a nationwide issue that might potentially hinder the registration procedure.

Many individuals who rushed the EC centers in the aforementioned Districts are waiting for the Network to stabilize so that the EC may continue with the registration procedure.

According to information gathered, the EC anticipates registering roughly 623,000 new voters nationally.

“As a commission, we remain poised and ready to deliver credible, transparent, and peaceful elections and electoral processes starting with the 2024 registration exercise,” said Jean Mensa, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), during a news conference on Monday.

“It is well known that the voters register is a bedrock of an election. Without a credible and accurate voter register, there can be no transparent and acceptable elections,” she added.

On Monday, May 27, 2024, the 21-day exercise will come to a close. The national album is intended for those who have turned 18 years old since the last registration.

She pointed out that transparent elections are impossible in the absence of a reliable voter registry.

In addition, the exercise will take place in hard-to-reach voting districts and in the district offices of the EC.
