Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the 2028 campaign director for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, can be detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for an additional night.
The investigation body’s GHC50 million bail requirement is still being met by his lawyers, who are working nonstop.
Dennis Aboagye was taken by EOCO authorities earlier today, Tuesday, July 14, to one of his homes in Larteh for an inspection. This is a routine bail execution procedure that helps officials get to know him better and find locations where they may find him after he is released.
The development follows the granting of GHC50 million in bail for Mr. Aboagye on Monday, July 13, with three sureties to be justified.
His legal team claims that rather than requesting a review or modification of the terms, the current emphasis is on adhering to the court’s bail obligations.
The team revealed that meeting the requirements of the bail has already started and continues to be its top goal.
“The processes toward satisfying the bail conditions have commenced. The legal team is actively working to secure his release as soon as possible,” sources said.
“At this stage, the focus is on meeting the bail conditions rather than pursuing any variation of them. Once the requirements have been fulfilled, we expect the release process to follow,” they reiterated.
EOCO arrested Dennis Miracles Aboagye at the airport in Accra.
The arrest is connected to alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving around GH¢55 million while he was the Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), according to EOCO.
As part of the ongoing investigations into the purported discrepancies, he was detained alongside Gerald Appiah, the former accountant for the Secretariat.
