The Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has apprehended five individuals and saved 57 Nigerian citizens from a cybercrime and human trafficking ring that was active in the Greater Accra Region’s Adom Estates, Community 25.

Following intelligence on the syndicate’s actions, the CID’s Operations Unit spearheaded the operation, which was carried out on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

The suspects, who have been named by the police as Joel Nosa, Collins Rotimi, Shadrack Lulu, Austin Amahuaro, and John Uloko, are accused of operating a criminal organisation that enticed young Nigerians to Ghana by deceptively offering them jobs and educational prospects.

According to the statement, “Upon arrival, the victims, aged between 18 and 26 years, were coerced into engaging in online romance scams and other heinous activities.”

Three television sets, two cars, 77 computers, 38 cell phones, and numerous other internet-enabled gadgets thought to have been involved in the crimes were recovered by police during the operation.

The suspects are still in police custody, helping with additional investigations, while the 57 rescued victims are still getting medical attention and psychological support. Forensic analysis has been conducted on the confiscated objects.

The Police Service has also warned the public, particularly young people, to be wary of offers of travel, education, or jobs made on social media and other unreliable platforms.

“The Police reiterate their determination to combat human trafficking, cybercrime, and related offences, and urge anyone with credible information on such activities to report to the nearest police station,” the statement continued.
