The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have declared that, as of Monday, November 24, 2025, all recruitment facilities in Accra, aside from El-Wak Sports Stadium, will be temporarily closed.
This comes after previous steps were taken to reduce traffic following the stampede that occurred on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at El-Wak Sports Stadium.
Following that incident, GAF opened other screening facilities, including two at the Eastern Naval Command in Tema, two at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in Teshie, one at the Air Force Base in Burma Camp, and two at Nicholson Park in Burma Camp.
However, GAF declared that all Accra recruitment centers, aside from El-Wak, would now be closed in a statement published on X (previously Twitter) on Sunday, November 23.
“GAF Recruitment Update: All Accra recruitment centers for the 2025/2026 exercise, with the exception of El-Wak Sports Stadium, will be closed on Monday, November 24, 2025,” the announcement stated. For the purpose of continuing documentation and body selection, all prospective recruits who have not yet undergone screening should report to El-Wak Sports Stadium.
In the wake of the last tragedy, the most recent instruction aims to improve crowd control and safety while streamlining the remaining steps of the recruitment process.
