His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the president of the Federal Republic of Germany, will travel to Ghana on a three-day state visit from Sunday, November 2, 2025, until Tuesday, November 4.
At the Presidency’s Forecourt, President Steinmeier will inspect a complete military Guard of Honour on Monday to kick off the formal program.
In the Credentials Room, President Steinmeier and his host, President Mahama, will meet behind closed doors before meeting with their respective delegations for bilateral discussions.
Stronger ties between Ghana and Germany, especially in the areas of commerce, investment, technology, and development cooperation, are anticipated to be the main topic of discussion.
In the afternoon, President Steinmeier and his delegation will be honoured with a State Luncheon at the Presidential Banquet Hall.
The German president will lay a wreath at the tomb of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first president, after being given a guided tour of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park later that day.
Before going to a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence, he will also interact with young Ghanaian IT professionals.
On the third day of his tour, President Steinmeier will go to Kumasi, where he will conduct a ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute to cut the sod.
Additionally, he will engage with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) staff, alumni, and the vice chancellor.
He will also make a courtesy call to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, at the Manhyia Palace after visiting the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research.
On Tuesday night, President Steinmeier is expected to leave Ghana.
