Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the Football Association’s president, led an entourage from the association to visit and offer condolences to the family of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the late former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana yesterday, Monday, October 27, 2025.

Hon. Kofi Adams, the Minister of Sports and Recreation, also joined the trip.

The GFA leadership had the chance to offer their sympathies and participate in the loss of the grieving family during the visit, which was held at the Rawlings home in Ridge, Accra.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings died at the age of 76 at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

In both the military and civilian governments of her late husband, former President Jerry John Rawlings, she held the position of First Lady of Ghana from 1979 until 2001.

Apart from her illustrious position as First Lady, Nana Konadu was a pioneer in political action and women’s autonomy.

She established the groundbreaking 31st December Women’s Movement, which promoted social progress, women’s rights, and community development nationwide.

She has made a lasting impact on Ghana’s sociopolitical environment with her lifelong commitment to public service, support of female equality, and unwavering quest for national advancement.

The GFA leadership paid tribute to a woman whose influence went well beyond politics and into the very fabric of Ghanaian society by expressing their continuous prayers and support for the Rawlings family during this trying time.
