The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has introduced an online gazette verification system to help individuals, businesses, and public institutions confirm the authenticity of official gazettes and tackle the circulation of fake government documents in Ghana.
The new digital platform allows users to verify gazettes online without visiting the company’s offices, making the process more convenient, accessible, and efficient.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Monday, October 19, 2026, GPCL Managing Director, Nana Kwasi Boatey, Esq., said the initiative forms part of the company’s broader efforts to combat fraudulent gazettes and improve public access to reliable official information.
He explained that although GPCL had previously taken steps to address the problem, the introduction of online verification would make it easier for the public to distinguish genuine gazettes from forged documents.
Previously, individuals and institutions had to contact or visit GPCL offices to establish whether a gazette was authentic. Under the new system, these checks can now be conducted online.
Gazettes are official government publications that contain important notices, appointments, legal announcements, and other information required by law. Their authenticity is essential for individuals, businesses, and institutions that depend on them for legal and administrative purposes.
Mr Boatey also announced that GPCL is making gazette publications available online, enabling users to check published notices and confirm their publication dates. The initiative is expected to help resolve disputes involving the timing of official announcements, including election-related publications.
The online verification system represents part of GPCL’s digital transformation efforts to improve document authentication, enhance transparency, and make official government information more accessible to the public.
