Ghana is set to strengthen its sustainable blue economy through its partnership with Norway, with a focus on marine resource management, job creation and long-term economic growth.
Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, said the government intends to maximise the benefits of the Oceans for Development Programme to promote sustainable use of marine resources and improve the livelihoods of coastal communities.

The initiative is expected to support Ghana’s efforts to protect ocean resources, encourage sustainable fisheries and create economic opportunities for communities that depend on the marine sector.
According to the Deputy Finance Minister, collaboration with Norway will help Ghana advance responsible ocean management while strengthening the contribution of marine resources to national development.
The partnership reflects Ghana’s broader commitment to developing a sustainable blue economy that balances economic growth with environmental protection and the long-term preservation of ocean resources.
