The United Nations in Ghana and the Ghanaian government will work together to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the UN with the local theme “UN@80: Ghana and the UN – Shared Responsibility for a Better Tomorrow.”
The celebration of this milestone has as its global theme “UN at 80: Building our future together.”
This year’s celebration will take place over the course of a week, from Saturday, October 18, to Friday, October 24, 2025, and will showcase Ghana’s longstanding collaboration with the UN to promote human rights, sustainable development, and peace.
The United Nations has been the world’s leading multilateral organisation for the past 80 years, giving countries a forum to work together to address global issues.
Following its admission as the 81st Member State in 1957, Ghana has been actively involved in advancing the ideals and principles of the UN through diplomacy, peacekeeping, and the promotion of international solidarity.
