The Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Major General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono, has presented a Great Wall Motors (GWM) pickup vehicle to the Tema Marine Police Command to strengthen its operational capacity and support maritime security.
The vehicle was handed over during a presentation ceremony on Wednesday morning as part of GPHA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at supporting institutions that play vital roles in port operations and security.
The donation highlights the importance of collaboration between the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and the Marine Police in maintaining security and facilitating the smooth operation of activities within the Tema Port enclave.

GPHA Strengthens Support for Tema Marine Police
Speaking during the presentation, Major General Tanye-Kulono reaffirmed GPHA’s commitment to working closely with the Tema Marine Police Command to enhance its ability to perform its duties effectively.
He emphasised the importance of cooperation between the port authority and the security agency in supporting port operations and strengthening maritime security.
The GPHA Director-General also assured the Command that the Authority would take responsibility for the regular servicing and maintenance of the Great Wall Motors pickup to ensure its longevity and continued operational efficiency.
The maintenance commitment is expected to help keep the vehicle in good condition and enable the Marine Police to use it reliably in carrying out its assigned responsibilities.
Tema Marine Police Commander Welcomes Vehicle Donation
Receiving the vehicle on behalf of the Tema Marine Police Command, the Commander, Chief Superintendent Charles Osei, expressed appreciation to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority for the support.
He pledged that the pickup vehicle would be put to effective use to support the Command’s operations and improve its ability to carry out its mandate.
The donation is expected to provide additional logistical support for the Marine Police as they undertake their duties in an environment where port security and operational coordination remain important.

GPHA Reaffirms Commitment to Maritime Security
The presentation forms part of GPHA’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts to support key institutions and strengthen partnerships that contribute to efficient port management and security.
Through its collaboration with the Tema Marine Police Command, the Authority continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting security operations that help protect port infrastructure, personnel and other activities connected to Ghana’s maritime sector.
The provision of the Great Wall Motors pickup, alongside GPHA’s commitment to its maintenance, is intended to offer sustained logistical assistance to the Command.
