An Accra High Court has granted GHS10 million bail with three sureties to Gifty Oware Mensah, the former Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS).

The court has also prohibited her from leaving the nation while the investigation into the alleged financial irregularities is ongoing, as part of the bail requirements.

The ruling comes after she appeared in court over alleged financial misconduct-related actions she engaged in while employed by the National Service Authority.

Prosecutors told the court that investigations are ongoing and asked that the accused be made available as needed, but they have not yet disclosed the particular allegations.

Lawyers for Mrs Oware Mensah argued for bail, stating that she had completely cooperated with investigators and was not a flight risk.

The court approved the motion but placed strict restrictions on it, such as requiring her to turn over her travel documents to the police.

Because of Oware Mensah’s well-known role in youth development and public service, the case has garnered public attention.

As the Attorney-General’s Department conducts its investigation into the case, she is anticipated to make another court appearance.
