President John Dramani Mahama has praised the rapid growth of Zonda Tech Ghana Limited, describing the company’s transformation from a vehicle distributor into a major automotive assembly company in Ghana as a significant Ghanaian success story.
President Mahama made the remarks on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, during the commissioning of the third phase of the Zonda Tech Ghana Assembly Plant. He said the expansion represents an important achievement for Ghana’s industrial development and local manufacturing sector.
According to the President, Ghana’s long-term economic prosperity will depend largely on the country’s ability to produce more goods locally while strengthening its capacity to export Made-in-Ghana products to international markets.
He said investments in modern manufacturing facilities such as the Zonda Tech assembly plant demonstrate increasing investor confidence in Ghana’s economy and the potential of the country’s workforce.
President Mahama also noted that the expansion of the automotive facility could contribute significantly to job creation in Ghana, providing decent employment opportunities for both current and future generations.
“Zonda Tech’s growth is itself a remarkable Ghanaian success story. From modest beginnings, Madam Yang Yang began as a vehicle distributor in the year 2010. The company she established has steadily transformed itself into Ghana’s leading assembler of heavy-duty vehicles, SUVs and small cars,” President Mahama said.
Zonda Tech’s Contribution to Ghana’s Industrialisation
President Mahama connected Zonda Tech’s development to Ghana’s long-standing pursuit of industrial self-reliance and economic independence.
He referenced the vision of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, who maintained that political independence should be supported by economic and industrial independence.
Over the years, Zonda Tech Ghana has expanded its operations beyond vehicle distribution into the assembly of passenger cars, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and light trucks from a number of leading Chinese automobile brands.
The President said the company’s progress has been driven by determination, strategic partnerships and sustained investment in the Ghana automotive industry.
He added that these efforts have helped position Zonda Tech among the emerging modern vehicle assembly facilities in West Africa, highlighting the growing potential of Ghana as a hub for automobile manufacturing and industrial investment.
The expansion of the Zonda Tech Ghana Assembly Plant is therefore expected to further support local vehicle production, manufacturing growth, employment opportunities and Ghana’s industrialisation agenda.
