In the internal polls to choose a National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, former president John Dramani Mahama has selected the top slot on the ballot.
Kojo Bonsu, the former Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, came in at number two, closely followed by Kwabena Duffour, the former Finance Minister.
Former president John Dramani Mahama has thanked businessman Ernest Kobeah for supporting him in addition to withdrawing from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearing contest.
Mr. Kobeah was one of the four that submitted a nomination to compete for the position of flagbearer in the NDC primary elections on May 13.
Speaking to party delegates on March 30, 2023, in Gomoa West, in the Central Region, Mr. Mahama also revealed he had chosen the top spot on the vote.
“Balloting has been done for the May 13 presidential primaries and the person who picked on my behalf picked number one so I’m number one on the ballot and God is telling us something,” Mr Mahama told the jubilant crowd.
“I thank you all for your dedication, support and prayers through it all, thus far. I also want to thank my younger brother, Ernest who has not only stepped down from the contest, but has declared his support for me,” he added.
