The Ministry of Education has extended warm congratulations and appreciation to teachers across Ghana as the country joins the global community to celebrate World Teachers’ Day 2026.
The Ministry described teachers as the backbone of Ghana’s education system, highlighting their vital role in educating children, building character and preparing the next generation to contribute to national development.
It commended teachers for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to quality education, particularly those working in deprived, rural and hard-to-reach communities across the country.
The Ministry of Education said the government remains committed to transforming Ghana’s education sector by improving not only access to education but also learning outcomes, teaching quality, relevant skills development and human capital development.
According to the Ministry, meaningful education reforms cannot be achieved without the active involvement and support of teachers. It therefore pledged to continue working closely with teachers, teacher unions and other stakeholders to strengthen the teaching profession.
The Ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to teacher professional development, improved welfare and better working conditions as part of efforts to enhance the quality of education in Ghana.
As Ghana marks World Teachers’ Day 2026, the Ministry of Education has called on parents, communities and the general public to recognise, appreciate and support teachers for their contribution to the country’s development.
Teachers continue to play a fundamental role in shaping Ghana’s future by equipping young people with knowledge, skills and values needed to succeed.
Ministry’s Message to Ghana’s Teachers
To every teacher across Ghana, the Ministry of Education says:
Thank you for your dedication.
