Following a brilliant performance that helped Ghana defeat South Korea 3-2 on Monday at Education City stadium in Doha, Mohammed Kudus has dedicated his Player of the Match award to the entire squad.
Mohammed Salisu scored the game’s first goal in the 24th minute, and Kudus headed in a Jordan Ayew cross to make it 2-0 in the 34th. However, Ghana threw away the 2-0 advantage as the Asian giants rallied in the second half to tie the score through Cho Gue-sung in the 58th and 61st minutes of play.

The game-winning goal for Ghana was scored in the 68th minute by Mohammed Kudus, who once more popped up to connect on a Gideon Mensah cross.
He told ghanafa.org, “I think we played together as a team and we all deserve credit for this win and the honor.”
We simply need to put in more effort in the following game to win again and advance to the tournament’s next round.
We’ll see what happens in the next game on Friday. “The matches are not simple, all the teams are strong, but I have always said we will take the games one at a time.”
We are pleased with our victory today, said Kudus. “We will return home, get some rest, and get ready for our next game against Uruguay.”
After Mohammed Salisu and Kudus gave the Black Stars a 2-0 lead at the interval, they just needed three points to avoid an early elimination and appeared destined for triumph.
Since our first visit in Germany in 2006, Mohammed Kudus is the only Ghanaian player to score two goals in a single FIFA World Cup game.
Ghana’s victory over South Korea marks the country’s first World Cup triumph since June 26, 2010, when the Black Stars defeated the United States 2-1 in the tournament’s Round of 16 in South Africa.
Later, after losing to Uruguay in the quarterfinals, Ghana was eliminated from the competition.
