NHIA Deputy Chief Executive promotes staff wellness

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Deputy Chief Executive for Operations, Louisa Atta-Agyemang (Mrs.) has entreated staff to routinely pay attention to their personal well-being by engaging in regular exercises.

She was addressing participants of the ongoing nationwide training programme on Promotive, Preventive and Wellness, held in the NHIA Head Office, July 17, 2024.

She underscored the need for a collective commitment to the new Chief Executive , Dr. Dacosta Aboagye’s vision of safeguarding the organization’s financial burden, emphasizing the need for staff to lead the crusade.

According to the DCE Operations, Ghana’s attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is a collective responsibility.

Director of Administration,Mr. Raymond Avinu urged the staff to be worthy Ambassadors of the new policy direction.

“This will be accomplished through routine health check-upswhere health equipment will be stationed at every NHIA office across the country to help keep staff healthy.”

The team lead, Madam Augustina Nartey dealt with topics including health needs, health merits and demerits of healthcareroutines, good eating habits and regular exercises.

“This is just the beginning of the sensitization exercise; further trainer of trainers exercises will take place after this with representatives from the districts offices undertaking it.”

Another trainer, Renee Opare Otoo, took the participants through stress management. The beneficiaries were from the various Directorates comprising Actuarial, Internal Audit, legal , Private Health Insurance Scheme, Procurement , Quality Assurance, Research, Policy Monitoring and Evaluation, Strategic Health Purchasing, Finance, Corporate Affairs, Human Resource , Management Information System, Membership and Regional Operation, Administration, CEO’S Secretariat, DCE’s Operation Secretariat and KOFIH secretariat.
