The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has thanked the government of Ghana for acting quickly to save Ghanaian students and Ghanaians in general who were trapped in a conflict-torn Sudan.

Around 77 Ghanaians have been evacuated in two groups and are now waiting to be repatriated to Ghana in Gaderef, Sudan.

The lethal fight between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, which resulted in unnecessary losses, has necessitated the evacuation.

The Union has urged the public to share the following numbers with any Ghanaians in Sudan who require assistance: +249-92920-000, +233591241965, and +249118877986.

In order to guarantee that Ghanaian students are returned safely, the Union claimed it is collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Regional Integration Office, and all other parties.
