As part of continuous efforts to hold everyone responsible for the incident accountable, the suspects were captured at multiple locations throughout the area, according to a police update.

Three other suspects were subsequently apprehended by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate at Abuesi in the Shama District on Friday, October 24, 2025: Stephen Nyame, also known as Joe (18), Joseph Aidoo, also known as Moree (45), and James Eshun, also known as Abeiku (25).
Six further individuals were previously taken into custody by police on October 18, 2025, in the Agona Nkwanta District, at Ahuntumano, which is close to Butre.
Since then, all of the accused have been placed under police custody and are scheduled to make their court appearances again on October 30, 2025.
Recall that on October 6, 2025, a chieftaincy conflict in the village led to the attack and death of the deceased, John Abban, the brother of the chief of Butre and Asemkor.
Following the incident, the suspects allegedly left the area and went into hiding until their most recent arrests.
The public has been reassured by the police that investigations are still on and that any remaining suspects will be apprehended and prosecuted.
