On Sunday, October 5, 2025, a violent confrontation between two opposing factions, Sammordua and Samgba Gyafla, broke out at the Sampa major market in the Bono Region. The Bono Regional Police Command has now brought peace back to Sampa.
The same day, a distress call was made to the police, saying that there had been a gunfight between the factions and that multiple shops in the market area had been set on fire.
A police unit was sent to the scene right away to escort an ambulance and a Ghana National Fire Service tender that were transporting a pregnant woman to a hospital.
However, the police unit became entangled in the armed groups’ gunfight.
During the firefight, the service car with the registration number GP 686 went into a ditch, and many officers were shot.
For medical care, the wounded officers were taken immediately to the Sampa Government Hospital.
One officer who had a head injury has been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for additional care, while the other seven were treated and released.
Since then, patrols in Sampa have increased, and everything is still under control.
The public is reassured by the Bono Regional Police Command that every attempt is being made to apprehend everyone responsible for the disturbances.
