President John Dramani Mahama appointed Kalsoume Sinare as ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

Mrs. Kulsoume Sinare Baffoe was appointed as the Republic of Ghana’s ambassador-designate to the Kingdom of Spain on Tuesday by President John Dramani Mahama.

Nonetheless, parliamentary permission is required for the appointment. In compliance with Article 74 of the 1992 Constitution, these nominations were made following deliberations with the Council of State, according to a June 10, 2025, letter from the Office of the President, written by Secretary to the President Callistus Mahama, PhD.

Kalsoume Sinare won a Golden Actress award in the Drama category for her roles in more than fifty films, including Babina, Trinity, and Sala.

Her family had nine children, with Sinare being the first. After graduating from Accra High School, she began working as a model in entertainment.

She frequently featured on television as a commercial model for consumer goods and represented Ghana in the 1990 Miss Model of the World competition.

After making her theatrical debut in Theatre Mirrors, Sinare started her cinematic career in 1993 with Out of Sight.

After starring in the religiously orientated horror movie Babina, she became “immensely popular” in Ghana. Among the more than fifty films in which she has starred is 4ever Young.

For her performance in the 2013 movie 3 Some, Kalsoum was nominated for a second Ghana Movie Awards for Best Supporting Actress.

Her lead performance in the movie Sala took home the Golden Actress prize in the Drama category at the 2017 Golden Movie Awards. In 1994, Sinare wed Anthony Baffoe, a Ghanaian international football player.

Baffoe and Sinare are both Muslims. In Ghanaian elections, he openly backed the National Democratic Congress and took part in John Mahama’s inauguration in 2013. In 2016, she re-endorsed Mahama.

She is the sister of Said Sinare, a politician from Ghana and a former ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
