President John Dramani Mahama attended the launch of a reinvigorated national drive to rally support for the Ghana national football team before of the FIFA World Cup, which included the official debut of the Ghana World Cup Raffle.
The initiative, which was started at the Ministry of Finance and is headed by the Ghana World Cup Fundraising Committee, is a component of a larger plan to obtain funding for the team’s World Cup campaign and mobilise public support.

The President reiterated the government’s commitment to economic restraint at the same event, stating that public monies will not be utilised to pay for supporters’ tournament travel.
He described the logistical demands as astounding and emphasised the substantial financial strain involved, disclosing that transporting and housing just 200 spectators might cost about $2 million.
He underlined that good administration necessitates allocating resources toward vital national requirements, such as job creation and economic progress, even though national pride and fan presence are still significant.
