President John Dramani Mahama will undertake a three-day State Visit to the Republic of Zambia from February 4 to 6, 2026, at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema.

President Mahama will be joined by Her Excellency Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama, the First Lady of the Republic.

During his visit, President Mahama will hold bilateral talks with President Hakainde Hichilema on issues of mutual interest, such as strengthening diplomatic relations, expanding trade and investment cooperation, and exploring collaborative opportunities within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The visit will culminate in a presentation to Zambia’s National Assembly, when he is scheduled to outline Ghana’s vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.

President Mahama will also meet with members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka to mingle with fellow citizens living and working in Zambia.

Presidents Mahama and Hichilema will co-chair the Ghana-Zambia Business Dialogue.

The discussion would allow Ghana to demonstrate its digital technology and fintech services to Zambian enterprises and government entities, encouraging economic collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two countries.

President Mahama’s State Visit to Zambia demonstrates his unshakeable commitment to his vision of a seamlessly connected Africa through improved transport infrastructure, expanded economic links, and free movement of people and products.

The President remains a strong advocate for the AfCFTA’s accelerated implementation, which he believes is critical to transforming African economies, creating long-term employment opportunities for the continent’s growing youth population, and positioning Africa competitively in the global economy.

Prior to the State Visit to Zambia, President Mahama will leave Accra on Sunday, February 1, 2026, for Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), at the invitation of His Highness the Ruler of the UAE, to attend the World Governments Summit 2026, which is set for February 2–4.

The President will be flown to Dubai on a special aircraft supplied by the Ruler of the UAE, and he and his party will then travel to Zambia to begin their State Visit.
