“I stopped playing for almost three years until my son asked me to go play. I did that, but I’m finished now.
The seasoned midfielder recently parted company with Hearts of Oak after the team and him were unable to agree on an extension of his contract.
Muntari, who recently joined the Phobians, was a crucial member of the team as they romped to the FA Cup and President’s Cup victories.
In a 2-1 victory over WAFA at the Accra Sports Stadium in March, he also netted his first goal for the team by converting a penalty.
Muntari, who has been free since the end of the 2021–2022 season, has now declared his retirement from football.
Muntari, whose career began with Ghana Premier League team Liberty Professionals, has had a career filled with trophies over the past two decades.
He won the treble, which included the UEFA Champions League with Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho, along with the FA Cup with Portsmouth and the Serie A with AC Milan.
