Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has thanked Chancellor Sir Sam Jonah, the Governing Council, and the entire University of Cape Coast community for bestowing upon her the university’s first-ever Distinguished Fellowship Award.

She thought back on the long-lasting effects of her stay at the university where she completed her higher education.

“This campus is surrounded by seven towns, which offer a daily reminder that academia exists within a living community. Our education tasks us to go beyond theoretical knowledge and make tangible improvements in our nation,” she stated.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang recounted her journey from Adehye Hall Hall Warden to Vice Chancellor, describing the Distinguished Fellowship as both humble and extremely important.

“We are invited, regardless of our professions or backgrounds, to be somebody else’s teacher, to guide, to advise, and uplift others. And in so doing, hold the future in trust for those who follow.”
