For customers to confirm the phone numbers associated with their Ghana Cards, a new shortcode will be made available by the end of this month, according to the National Communications Authority (NCA).
Ghanaians have long demanded a uniform and straightforward method that would enable them to confirm the phone numbers associated with their Ghana Cards.
However, the NCA revealed on Facebook that it has been actively working with the major telecommunications firms to introduce a shortcode that will enable subscribers to confirm the number of SIMs connected to their Ghana Cards.
“The NCA and the Telcos have already been actively working on a short code for Individual Subscribers to verify the number of SIMs associated with a Ghana card; you just type the shortcode on your phone, and after a verification process using your Ghana card pin, the number of SIMs associated with the Ghana card will be displayed,” the telecoms regulator said in a Facebook post.
“There will be no need for subscribers to physically go to the Telco to verify same when the shortcode is operational, by the end of April 2023, after the testing has been completed and approved,” the NCA added.
No subscriber will have to physically visit a telecom operator for verification, according to the NCA.
