Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the vice president, has expressed her sadness at the passing of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the former first lady, calling her a national treasure whose legacy will last for many generations.
The late former First Lady’s outstanding contributions to Ghana’s social and political environment will always be recognised, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated in a touching tribute.
“We mourn the passing of our former First Lady, H.E. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings. She was a true icon and will be remembered for her service to Ghana,” she said.
The vice president wished the Rawlings family strength at this trying period and offered her condolences, particularly to Nana Konadu’s children.
“My deepest condolences go to her children and family. I wish her peaceful rest,” she continued.
After a brief illness, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the founder of the 31st December Women’s Movement and an advocate for women’s emancipation, passed away at Ridge Hospital in Accra on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
