A 19-year-old man, Ahmed Mustapha, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with hard labour after being convicted of robbery and causing harm at Asabi in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of Ghana’s Ashanti Region.
According to facts presented before the court, Mustapha attacked a victim with a cutlass during a robbery incident on July 21, 2026.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident by officers of the Ghana Police Service and subsequently charged with the offences.
The case was heard at the Asokore Mampong District Court, where the presiding judge, Vida Achiaa Yeboah, delivered the 15-year prison sentence after considering the evidence presented before the court.
The conviction highlights ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service and the judiciary to tackle robbery and violent crime and promote public safety across communities in the Ashanti Region.
