The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an outlaw motorcycle gang accused of engaging in midnight motorcycle racing, armed robbery and attacks on residents within the Breman-Kronum-Suame enclave in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects have been identified as Sharif Mahmud, 23, Abdallah Karim, 25, and James Alena, 25.

They were arrested during a police operation at Suame in Kumasi at approximately 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on motorcycle-related crimes and improve public safety.

According to the police, the suspected gang members are allegedly involved in illegal motorcycle racing at night, during which they take control of public roads and attack unsuspecting pedestrians and other road users.

The suspects are also accused of robbing individuals who encounter them during these unauthorised midnight racing activities.

Police Intensify Crackdown on Motorcycle Gang Activities

The Ashanti Regional Police Command disclosed that it had been monitoring the movements and activities of the suspected gang members for some time before carrying out the latest arrest operation.

The operation followed repeated attempts by law enforcement officers to apprehend the suspects, who allegedly managed to evade arrest on several occasions.

Although three suspected members were arrested, several others reportedly escaped during the police operation.

The police have since intensified investigations and launched efforts to identify, locate and arrest the remaining suspects believed to be involved in the criminal activities.

Suspects Granted Police Inquiry Bail

Following their arrest, the three suspects were granted police inquiry bail and are expected to appear before a court once proceedings resume after the ongoing strike by the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG).

Meanwhile, investigations into the alleged activities of the motorcycle gang are continuing as police work to establish the full extent of its operations and apprehend other individuals connected to the suspected crimes.

Police Appeal to Residents for Information

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has urged residents of Breman, Kronum, Suame and surrounding communities to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects.

The police say public cooperation remains important in tackling motorcycle-related crime, preventing armed robbery and ensuring the safety of residents and road users.

The latest arrests form part of ongoing police efforts to combat street crime, illegal motorcycle activities and criminal gangs in Kumasi and other parts of the Ashanti Region.
