9 of the more than 50 demonstrators who were remanded for their anti-galamsey protests have been granted bail by the court.

9 of the more than 50 demonstrators who were held in September for their anti-illegal mining protests have been granted bail by an Accra High Court.

Among the nine is Elorm Ababio Esq., also referred to as Ama Governor.

Two sureties and a bail of GHC 70,000 were provided to each protestor.

They have one weekly report to the police.

According to earlier reports, State Prosecutors rejected the bail request made by the attorneys of the nine demonstrators who participated in the Democracy Hub demonstration against illegal mining but were ultimately remanded into police custody.
